Corneal Disease (Keratitis)

A deep infection and inflammation of the cornea caused by an abrasion or the presence of bacteria or fungi in the cornea. The condition may cause severe pain, reduce vision, produce a corneal discharge or even erode the cornea. Minor corneal infections can be treated with eye drops. If the problem is more serious, the patient may receive more intensive medical treatment to eliminate the infection and reduce inflammation.
