Tom SamuelsonDr. Thomas W. Samuelson just returned from a trip to Armenia. He is the third US doctor to make the trip for Team Glaukos. The trip had two purposes: The first was to provide glaucoma care in a country (The Republic of Armenia) that has poor access to medical care. Glaukos donated the surgical devices that they were implanting free of charge. The other purpose was to generate data to determine how well the patients respond to the surgical treatments.

The average household of these patients have earnings of $100 /mo. Given that glaucoma meds often cost $30-100 /mo, they simply cant afford medications. The surgery helps to keep them off medications.
