We would like to welcome Shelby K. Anderson, OD to Minnesota Eye Consultants as our 2019-2020 Optometric Fellow! Dr. Anderson sees patients primarily out of our Minneapolis and Woodbury locations. She specializes in primary eye care.
Originally from Rapid City, SD, Dr. Anderson graduated magna cum laude from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biochemistry with a minor in psychology. She then attended Midwestern University (MWU): Arizona College of Optometry in Glendale, AZ where she obtained her Doctorate of Optometry degree.
While at MWU, Dr. Anderson received the VSP/AAOF Practice Excellence Scholarship Award and the South Dakota Optometric Society Scholarship Award. She participated in numerous organizations, including the Optometric Education Program Foundation and Lions Club/Friends in Sight. She is also very involved in volunteer initiatives and has taken part in providing vision screenings, serving as a pediatric companion at a children’s hospital as well as traveling to Meoqui, Mexico and San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico on mission trips.
Dr. Anderson has clinical experience working with low vision, specialty contact lenses, dry eye, ocular disease, glaucoma, and vision therapy. She is a member of the American Optometric Association. In her free time, she enjoys playing card games, crafting (scrapbooking and making homemade cards), hiking and traveling. She and her husband recently got married and moved into their new apartment in St. Paul with their cat, Toby.
